Description

The Asia regions needs billions to be spent on infrastructure projects such as transport, renewables, data centres, battery plants and energy transition and governments in various countries have initiated stimulus packages which therefore create a large concentration of projects. However, the issue of an insufficient construction workforce to help meet this demand is acute. An ageing population and constraints to the availability of migrant labour suggest that in the next five years there will be a major shortage of skilled workers. Many insurance underwriters, when looking at a construction projects, are beginning to ask clients how are they going to manage the people risk and if there are sufficient qualified teams engaged to carry out the work. This session will look at how contractors need to manage this talent gap in order to avoid exposures which could ultimately have an effect on their ability to deliver projects on schedule, to required standards and in a safe and ethical manner.
