The transition to a low carbon or net zero economy brings numerous opportunities and challenges to the construction industry, requiring significant investment in alternative forms of energy and the rapid adoption of prototype technology and the use of new building methods and materials.

Fires, natural disasters and defective products are already the top causes of claims on construction sites, but the nature of the new innovations to make buildings more sustainable represent increased risks, particularly when mass deployed. This session will explore the new risks these new materials present, how the risks need to be managed and it will ask if insurance innovation is keeping pace with construction innovation.
