The 3rd Edition of the code of practice for risk management in tunnel works was released earlier this year – some 20 years after the original code was implemented. The 3rd Edition addresses issues raised following a global survey of practitioners and brings the code up to date in areas such as BIM, competence, and culture. The code’s main objective however remains unchanged in seeking to promote and secure best practice for the minimisation and management of risk in tunnelling projects, but the principles could be applied to any construction project. This workshop will explore the latest changes in the code and help risk managers to engage in the principles of the code, reflecting on whether their projects are managed to current best practice principles.
