Breakfast session workshop: Delay in Start-Up – governing the risk that decides project value
Description

Delay in Start-Up (DSU) has evolved from a technical insurance extension into one of the most consequential risks facing large-scale construction and infrastructure projects across Asia. As megaprojects become more capital-intensive, supply chains more fragile, regulatory and geopolitical uncertainty more acute, and insurance capacity more constrained, DSU now directly influences project bankability, stakeholder confidence and balance sheet exposure. This session examines DSU through a strategic risk lens — exploring how schedule risk is created, amplified and transferred across complex project ecosystems, where traditional risk allocation is breaking down, and how sophisticated risk managers and insurance buyers can better govern DSU exposure through integrated planning, contractual alignment, data-driven scenario analysis and disciplined use of insurance and alternative risk transfer solutions.
