This Fireside discussion is an opportunity to hear from Gareth Jacques, Project Director at Laing O’Rourke who led the construction of Everton Football Club's groundbreaking new stadium. Officially opened at Bramley-Moore Dock, this £500m venue is setting a new standard for sustainability, becoming one of the most environmentally-friendly football stadia ever built.
The construction of this 52,888-seater stadium, nestled on an historic dock, posed a unique set of challenges from day one. With a long track record in delivering world-class sports stadia, Laing O’Rourke were appointed as the main contractor and, using the power of experience held within its in-house supply chain team, delivered this hugely complex football stadium within time and in budget. The stadium was also built with the health and safety of the workforce and sustainability front of mind with Laing O’Rourke exceeding their own target of re-using 95% of all materials on site.
In this Fireside conversation, Gareth will share unique insights into the projects size and scale and Laing O’Rourke's approach to ensuring it was set up for success, including an outline of the firm's approach to risk management, the challenges and major risks encountered and how the risks were effectively managed and mitigated through digital delivery, DfMA, engineered safety, inclusion and wellbeing.
