This workshop will explore how better claims data and reporting can strengthen risk management practices and improve insurance placement decisions across the construction sector. Bringing together perspectives from industry association representatives the discussion will examine how claims insights can move the industry beyond a transactional approach toward more informed, insight-driven decision-making. Topics will include claims classification methodologies, the creation of effective feedback loops between claims, risk engineering and underwriting, the value of claims analytics for different stakeholders and the practical challenges of data sharing, consistency and confidentiality. The International Association of Engineering Insurers (IMIA), led by Executive Committee Member Isabelle Kowalski (Global Head of Construction at SCOR), will discuss their collaboration with the IUA on construction claims and share their experience in developing claims classification frameworks to better understand loss drivers and enhance reporting to clients, building on IMIA’s recent work in this area and ongoing efforts to establish market-wide best practices.
