Political violence and terrorism exposures are rising across Europe, creating new vulnerabilities for large construction projects, urban developments and critical infrastructure sites. From civil unrest and sabotage to extremist activity and geopolitical spillover risks, construction sites represent high-value, high-visibility targets that are often poorly protected by traditional insurance programs. This session explores the evolving political violence landscape across Europe, the implications for construction timelines, worker safety, and supply-chain continuity and the modern insurance solutions that can protect assets under construction. We will examine how Political Violence (PV), Terrorism (TR), Sabotage, Strikes/Riots/Civil Commotion (SRCC), and CARM/DSU extensions work in practice, and what risk managers and insurance buyers must know to structure resilient, project-specific coverages that align with today’s complex threat environment.
