Description

Europe is theoretically a single market for insurance, but it is not that simple for North American risk managers with operations in Europe. They face many sometimes complex risk and compliance challenges from business being written into the region on a non-admitted basis. Experts from advisory firm TMF will host this session and guide us through the process of covering European risks through the global programme tackling the following key questions:

  • How do North American firms typically cover their European risks?
  • What is the most cost-effective and efficient way of including European risks in the global programme on a non-admitted basis?
  • Does it make sense to use a captive based within the EU to cover European risks or can the existing captive be used? What are the main challenges?
  • How consistent are the rules across Europe? What are the main deviations to look out for - focused on core territories such as Germany, France and Italy?
  • What about covering risks in non-EU territories such as the UK and Switzerland? How can the London market be used to help manage your European programme more effectively post Brexit?
  • What levels of Insurance Premium Tax are there across Europe and what is the trend? How is this tax paid?
  • Issues in the interrelationship between master policies and EU specific clauses
