Digitalisation is transforming shipping operations, improving efficiency through route optimisation, automated navigation, real-time monitoring and advanced vessel systems – but satellite connectivity via the likes of Starlink is also introducing new exposures across both hull & machinery and P&I liabilities. These exposures are being amplified by the rise in agentic AI used by cyber criminals. This session explores how cyber risks such as ransomware, GPS spoofing, system hacking and autonomous vessel failures can trigger physical damage, operational disruption and third-party liability claims.

Speakers will examine emerging claims trends affecting H&M cover as well as P&I liabilities, including collisions, cargo damage, environmental contamination and crew exposure. The session will also assess whether current marine cyber coverage is sufficient, highlight gaps and discuss practical risk management strategies.
