Matthew is the Commercial Director at Descartes Underwriting, a climate-focused MGA in the UK and Ireland, where he leads business development and works with brokers and clients to offer parametric insurance solutions against natural catastrophes and secondary perils.
Previously, he spent ten years at WTW in Alternative Risk Transfer, specializing in parametric solutions for weather risk. He then served as Head of Business Development at OTT Risk, a parametric insurtech, driving new business and product structuring.
Matthew has extensive experience in (re)insurance, with a focus on innovation in climate, agriculture, and micro-insurance. He holds an Investment Management Certificate, an Advanced Certificate from the Chartered Insurance Institute, and a B.A. in Politics from Durham University.

Karen started her role with AIG in May 2021. She has spent 20 years in the UK insurance market, specifically in delivering change and transformation, having spent 3 years as an independent consultant working for a large global insurer, on their Multinational Program Initiative.
Prior to that, Karen held a number of roles at RSA, including Change Director within the UK Commercial business. She started her career in Australia and has also worked in London and Singapore, delivering projects and managing global network partners.
Her role within AIG will be to drive the multinational vision, manage the UK fronting portfolio and delivering world class service to our global clients and broker partners. As well as, leading the adoption and execution of the multinational business model, fully leveraging AIG’s Network and capabilities.

In 2008 he relocated to Switzerland to support Global Corporate operations with target operating model and excellence initiatives focusing on preparing the underwriting units for the future. In 2010 Jonathan joined the International Programs unit, working across multiple functions including network operations, governance and global sales and distribution roles.
Jonathan joined the Global Customer & Distribution team in 2015 to head up broker strategy for Global Corporate before moving into his current digital role in 2019 based in London.

He is responsible for generating opportunities for growth through the development and implementation of strategic, corporate account planning and by further strengthening relationships for major corporates and their captives, London Market and multi-national insurers / Lloyd’s underwriters and brokers.

After starting his career as an underwriter with a general insurer, James moved into loss adjusting and has held a variety of roles in a 30-year career at GAB Robins and Crawford, including Major & Complex Loss Specialist, Head of City Operations, London Market Director and Head of Global Markets. His current role includes responsibility for management and oversight of Crawford’s largest corporate multi-national clients.

In addition, he has extensive experience in coordinating a response to major / high profile incidents.

David has 28 years’ experience in global major risks insurance and risk management.
He started as facultative underwriter at French State Owned Reinsurer CCR and then joined AIG where he led Captives services and ART practice in France, Belgium and Luxembourg overlooking books of global insurance programs for major accounts for 12 years.
He then joined Europcar Mobility Group and served for 6 years as Group Director, Insurance and Risk Management. During his remit, he developed and strengthened the Group's insurance programs, self-financing strategy and loyalty programs.
He then served 4 years as CCO and member of the executive committee at Sanlam Pan Africa developing a portfolio of pan African programs for global customers.
He also spent two and a half years with loss survey firm Erget as CCO and member of the executive committee.
